Janine Roberts is a professor and family therapist at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is the author of Tales and Transformations: Stories in Families and Family Therapy (Norton Press, 1994); co-author of Rituals for Our Times: Celebrating, Healing, and Changing Our Lives and Our Relationships (Jason Aronson, 1998); and co-editor of Rituals in Families & Family Therapy (Norton Press, 1988), as well as some forty articles, reviews, and book chapters.

Dr. Roberts is Past-President, as well as a former Board Member and Treasurer of AFTA. She is on the editorial boards for Family Process, Journal of Feminist Family Therapy, and the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy and is the former editor of the Journal of Feminist Family Therapy. Particular areas of interest include working with all the diverse family forms found in today's societies; cross-cultural counseling and issues of social justice; gender and counseling; school counseling and family-school partnerships; group work in schools; families and illness; and training and supervision in school counseling.
