Kitty La Perriere is in private practice in New York City, working with couples, families, individuals, and other groupings. Gender, ethnicity, immigration, life cycle and health issues come up daily in her work. She continues to supervise and do consultation.
Dr. La Perriere joined the Ackerman Institute at its inception and taught both internationally and nationally. She later became the first Director of Training at the Ackerman Institute. She has a multicultural-multilingual background, having grown up in Czechoslovakia and Switzerland. She is the author of The Thread of Time in the February 1998 issue of The Atlantic Monthly and has a number of professional publications on training in family therapy.
She is one of the original 20 founders of AFTA and, in addition to being
AFTA’ s first woman president, has served as a Board Member and as chair of the Nominations, Liaison and Senior Involvement Committees. She received a Special Award for from AFTA for her service to the field of family therapy in 1998.
