Ellen Berman, M.D.
Committee Chair, Liaison Ellen Berman, M.D., is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and faculty coordinator for the Family Systems Program in the Psychiatry Residency. She is also in private practice with Bala Psychological Resources. She is co-author of Marital and Family Therapy (APA press, 2001) and numerous articles and chapters.
Her areas of expertise include: couples therapy, adults and their families, time management in professional couples, the interaction of depression and relationships, and teaching systems to psychiatry residents. In 2001 Dr. Berman received the Practitioner of the Year Award from the Philadelphia Psychiatric Society.
Dr. Berman is a former Secretary and Board Member of AFTA; she has also chaired the Awards, Membership, and Nominations Committees. She is Secretary of the Board of Directors of Family Process, Chair of the GAP Committee on the Family, and on the editorial boards of Journal of Feminist Family Therapy and the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy.
