Gene Combs, M.D.

Gene Combs is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Loyola University, Chicago, where he serves as Director of Behavioral Science Education for the Cook County-Loyola-Provident Hospital combined Family Medicine Residency Program. He is also co-director of the Evanston Family Therapy Center, which sponsors training and supervision in narrative therapy. With his partner, Jill Freedman, he has led workshops on narrative approaches to family therapy all over the world and authored many articles, book chapters, and books on narrative therapy, including: Narrative Therapy: The Social Construction of Preferred Realities; Symbol, Story, and Ceremony: Using Metaphor in Individual and Family Therapy, and Narrative Therapy with Couples.
Dr. Combs has been a member of AFTA since 1991, and has served on the AFTA Family Policy Committee.
