Biography

J. Jessie Rose Cohen

J. Jessie Rose Cohen, LCSW (pronouns "J"/she/her) has worked with children and families nearing twenty years. J. is a TransNonBinary identified clinician. Trained at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, J. serves as Director of Community based Clinical Services and Training for the UCSF Child and Adolescent Gender Center and also as the clinic Social Worker-go social work! Jessie is also a Psychotherapist and Gender Specialist in Private Practice in the Bay Area, CA. J. recently served as the Interim Program Director and Clinical Supervisor on the Management Team at A Better Way, serving children and families primarily in foster and adoption care. In addition, she served as faculty for the National Transgender Health Summit and as a Contract Supervisor for Rainbow Community Center training interns in LGBTQI competencies. Jessie has served on the Steering Committee of the Gender Spectrum Conference and is a founding member of the UCSF, Child and Adolescent Gender Center, Mind The Gap group. Jessie also is a trainer/consultant for the Child Welfare System and Non-Profit agencies nationally dedicated to increasing their cultural humility/competency with gender expansive children and youth. J. has served on surgery review boards, assisted in the conceptualization and development of gender focused multispecialty clinics and worked with hundreds of children/youth and families in gender affirming care. Her clinical areas of interest and expertise also include working with trauma and high acuity presentations. Her passion and commitment to the field, nearing two decades, is to work from a Family Systems, trauma healing, anti-bias, gender affirming model and train other clinicians in this area.
