A Clinician's Guide to Systemic Sex Therapy, 3rd edition
Published by: Routledge Taylor & Francis Group
A Clinician’s Guide is a practice-oriented text that accompanies the third edition of Systemic Sex Therapy. It provides an overview of multiple forms of sexual expression, common sexual intimacy issues and sexual disorders. Therapists will discover a seamless integration of both couple and sex therapeutic modalities.
This third edition of A Clinician’s Guide to Systemic Sex Therapy continues our theoretical tradition of presenting professional books about sex/couple therapy written from the Intersystem Approach. This approach has become our brand of therapy; it is more comprehensive and integrative than either systems or biopsychosocial modalities. The Intersystem Approach allows the clinician to simultaneously apply a variety of assessment and treatment options to all facets of interpersonal problems: factors within the individual, the couple system, issues originating within the family-of-origin, and larger contextual factors such as gender, race, socioeconomic influences and so on.
We have included chapters on theoretical conceptualization, how to give homework, the use of psychoeducational material with lists of resources, sensate focus as mindful touch (mindfulness), medical/pharmacological issues in sex therapy, and a comprehensive review of sexual diversity with clinical considerations. Rather than having to consult several texts, we believe this volume will supply the clinician everything they need to work effectively with any sexual, relational, and intimacy issue.
